You find yourself in the year 172 AD , at the beginning of winter, in the period when the Holy Roman Empire extends over most of Europe and the people are ruled by Emperor Marcus Aurelius with a heavy hand. You are standing in a place where Germanic tribes lived a long time ago. It has not even been seven years since the tribes banded together and launched a valiant attack on the Roman Empire. Brave warriors penetrated deep into enemy territory and proved to the Romans that they too could bleed. Rome's response did not take long. Marcus Aurelius assembled a formidable army of 40,000 soldiers and marched north to restore order and punish the daring Germans. You, our brave adventurers, are members of this formidable army. You are legionnaires and belong to the famous Xth Legion of Jerusalem.
